MADRID — Spanish Fly founder, Jorge Fuego, just wanted to fly with style. He never imagined getting the flack that he’s received recently over his latest venture.
“Sure, we have a good time with the name,” says Fuego, “and our customers have a good time while flying. But it’s all harmless, innocent fun. That being said, yes, we do offer a drink with spanish fly in it.”
“This isn’t your dad’s airline. We recommend leaving grandma at home.”

Starting today, “hot” new roundtrip fares are being offered between Los Angeles and Madrid, with New York, San Francisco and Las Vegas soon joining the ranks.
“This isn’t your dad’s airline,” says one Spanish Fly stewardess who goes only by the moniker, ViXeN. “It’s a total trip — and we’re there to make your journey everything you expect it to be. I’d highly recommend leaving grandma at home.”
A slew of questionable marketing phrases are littered throughout the company’s advertising, and have been stealing headlines throughout Europe as well as the world: “We get you up quicker!” “Getting down to earth was never quite so fun.” and “Even the sky’s not the limit anymore.”
Safety concerns were raised by Spanish aviation authorities when it was disclosed that someone slipped Spanish fly to the pilot as a joke. The cockpit got so hot and steamy that the crew was flying blind until the autopilot kicked in.
